From Grecìa Salentina to Otranto
Journey to the East
A walk that follows the road from Grecìa to Otranto, through the Salento countryside, home to rock churches and architectural gems, all the way to the sea.
The walk begins in Soleto, where the Greek spirit of the place is tangible, and continues to other beautiful towns: Corigliano d'Otranto, Melpignano, Cursi, Bagnolo del Salento, Palmariggi, Giurdignano, and finally Otranto.
The route winds through golden wheat fields colored by the red of blooming poppies, monumental olive groves, ancient dry stone walls, unique pajare (typical farmhouses) and masserie (farmhouses), the ever-present fig groves with sweet ripe figs, prickly pears, and the intense green of the Mediterranean scrub that blends with the blue of the sea and sky.
Salento, a magical land that tells the story of ancient civilizations and preserves rock churches, menhirs, dolmens, and fortified masserie (farmhouses) everywhere.

The primary goal of "The Way of Peter" is to celebrate and publicize the journey the Apostle Peter took along the Salento coast, combining history, faith, nature, and local traditions. The route has been carefully designed, taking into account accurate historical and geographical references, to offer participants an engaging and fulfilling experience.
