Campanile normanno
Square in shape, it was built in the 12th century under Norman rule.

The tower was built in the 12th century, during the Norman era, next to the Cathedral as a bell tower. The monumental structure has a square plan, with a robust elevation enhanced by four round-arched windows and cornices, strips, and corbels decorating the exterior. The materials used in its construction are carparo stone and compact white limestone, typical of the Salento region.
The numerous bronze bells in the tower were cast over the centuries by various ecclesiastical patrons. According to a long-standing tradition, the first bronze bells were donated to Otranto by Saint Paolino da Nola well before the tower's construction.
