GALATINA - 5° STEP

In the center of Maglie, we head toward the charming Piazza Aldo Moro, the heart of the town. Here we can admire the Monument to Francesca Capece, a work that celebrates a significant historical figure. Continuing, we discover the majestic Palazzo Baronale Capece and the elegant Palazzo Cezzi, testaments to Salento's noble architecture. We then immerse ourselves in the beauty of the Duomo or Collegiate Church, a place of worship of great historical and artistic importance.

Next, we move to the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, where we can admire the Column of Our Lady of Grace, a symbol of popular devotion. We then head to the Church of Saints Cosma and Damiano, which houses precious frescoes and works of religious art.

Continuing our journey, we reach the Church of Madonna di Leuca, a place of prayer and spirituality. Afterwards, we visit the Masseria San Rocco Piccolo, a typical rural complex of Salento that offers us an immersion in the area's agricultural landscape.

Next, we reach the Dolmen Plau, an ancient megalithic monument dating back to prehistoric times, offering an interesting testimony to the distant past.

We continue towards Corigliano d'Otranto, where we can admire the Castello De' Monti Corigliano d'Otranto, an imposing medieval fortress embodying centuries of history and culture. We cannot overlook La Caporta, a striking entrance arch to the city, which transports us back in time.

We continue towards Sogliano Cavour, a charming town that welcomes us with its authenticity. Finally, we reach Galatina, where we can visit the Basilica of Saint Catherine of Alexandria, a jewel of Gothic art and architecture. We cannot miss the Clock Tower, an iconic tower that dominates the historic center, and the Palazzo del Sedile, an elegant building that testifies to the city's historical importance.
